How to Apply
Membership Requirements:
- Members must meet one of the following criteria:
- Passed MPAA Entrance Exam (or equivalent exam) AND completed minimum of 1900 hours in a Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture program (including 450 clinical hours), from an educational institution in Canada or other country, approved by MPAA.
- Currently holds valid registration as a Registered Acupuncturist in a regulated province in Canada.
- All members must successfully complete the Safety Course provided by MPAA.
- Maintain current certification in C.P.R.
- Abide by MPAA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
- Minimum of 15 continuing education hours per membership year. The MPAA membership year runs from November 1st to October 31st.
- Maintain patient confidentiality by following PHIA (Personal Health Information Act) requirements.
- Maintain and provide proof of current Professional Liability Insurance. The MPAA requires a minimum of 1,000,000 each claim and 5,000,000 aggregate of professional liability insurance.
- Submit Criminal Record Check
- Pay annual membership fee – Membership renewal is due November 1st of each year
Membership Fees:
- Application Fee - $50
- New Membership Fee- $550
- -includes exam fee (if required) and annual membership fee for the first year
- Annual Membership Renewal Fees:
- - Active members (Registered Members) -$150/year
- - Inactive members (Non-Practicing Members & Student Members)- $50/year
