2023 MPAA Continuing Education Seminar - Tung’s Acupuncture - May 7th, 2023
Tung's Acupuncture and Essential Protocols for Pain and Related Scenarios (6 hours) instructed by Dr. Michael Chung Dr.TCM.
MPAA is very fortunate to have Dr. Michael Chung present a 6 hour seminar on Tung’s Acupuncture on May 7th, 2023.
Dr. Chung received his M.Sc and Ph.D in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Tianjin TCM University in China. He was a disciple of Dr. Wei-Chieh Young and inherited a style of acupuncture called TEAS (Tung’s Extraordinary Acupuncture System). Dr. Chung has noted the great effects when treating patients with TEAS.
Dr. Chung started the seminar with a description of TEAS and its origins with Master Tung.
He discussed the differences between TEAS and the 14 meridian points, including differences in point location, nomenclature, point grouping, and clinical features. He also discussed different techniques and methods used in TEAS such as: Ci Luo, Ti Ying, Dong Qi, Qian Yin, and Dao Ma.
We were shown the system used to locate Tung’s points. This mapping technique included using latitude and longitude and thinking of the body in holographic form while using the system.
This included how to place points when they are in a grouping of more than 1 point.
Dr. Chung spent the afternoon discussing the top 10 upper extremity and lower extremity Tung’s points and their clinical applications. We were given time to practice needling some of the important points and also observe Dr. Chung demonstrate proper needling of these points and discuss case studies.
We left this seminar with an ignited curiosity in Tung’s acupuncture and are very thankful for Dr. Chung sharing his knowledge and expertise.
