Membership Requirements:

  1. Members must meet one of the following criteria:
    • Passed MPAA Entrance Acupuncture Exam or PAN-Canadian Exam in a regulated province AND completed minimum 3 years of a Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture program (minimum 1900 hours plus 500 clinical hours, the total 2400 hours), from an educational institution in Canada or other country, approved by MPAA.
    • Currently holds valid registration as a Registered Acupuncturist in a regulated province in Canada or has government issued license to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine in another country.
  2. All members must successfully complete the Safety Course provided by MPAA.
  3. Maintain current certification in C.P.R.
  4. Abide by MPAA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
  5. Minimum of 30 continuing education hours for every two-year period. The MPAA year-end is October 31st.
  6. Maintain patient confidentiality by following PHIA (Personal Health Information Act) requirements.
  7. Maintain and provide proof of current Professional Liability Insurance.
  8. Pay annual membership fee – Membership renewal is due November 1st of each year
  9. Hua Xia Acupuncture, Massage, Herb College, the acupuncture program students can apply MPAA student membership (Students are not covered by an insurance company until they graduate and pass MPAA exams).

Membership Fees:

  • Membership application fee - $50.00
  • Annual membership fees:
    • Active Members (Registered Members) - $150/year
    • Inactive Members (Non-Practicing Members & Student Members) - $50/year
