MPAA organizes monthly seminars as part of its research, development, teaching and continuing education activities.

2018 MPAA Continuing Education Seminar

On Sunday, March 11th, 2018, MPAA presented a Continuing Education Seminar.
The speakers were;

  1. Dr. Shandis Price with FSN review and case studies.
  2. Dr. Paul Conyette ND, who explained laboratory services for Acupuncturists and the overlapping of modalities between naturopathic doctors and acupuncturists with the opportunity for future collaborations.
  3. Dr. Mingyi LI who spoke about Jiao scalp acupuncture and its clinical applications, and demonstrated the technique.
  4. Paul Kohlmeier R.Ac. with an introduction to Tan’s Acupuncture, its clinical applications and a demonstration.
The event was well attended with 31 MPAA members and nonmembers. All who attended received an abundance of very useful information and an excellent review of topics. MPAA members will receive 8 continuing education credits for attending.

2017 May Bloodletting Seminar

Sunday May 7, 2017, the MPAA sponsored a continuing education seminar lead by Dr. Guojian Huang, RAc. on bloodletting therapy. Dr. Huang discussed the use of bloodletting therapy within the TCM framework and its application for various disease conditions. His presentation also demonstrated proper bloodletting techniques as well as the safety precautions and contraindications of bloodletting therapy.

Specifically, Dr. Huang demonstrated the use of bloodletting therapy for the treatment of back pain, shoulder pain, and eczema.

The seminar was attended by 14 participants. All who attended gained some very useful information that expanded our knowledge on the topic and provided us with a different treatment modality to care for our clients.

2017 April Continuing Education Seminar

On Sunday, April 9th the MPAA sponsored a continuing education seminar that was attended by 16 members. Topics included:

  • Techniques and benefits of pediatric massage for the treatment of TCM conditions was presented by Yu Lan Mah R.Ac.
  • Beauty Facial massage was presented by Devin Beaudry RMT. The demonstration included facial rejuvenation and massage with the use of hot and cold stones; walking cupping on the face and upper chest; and a herb mask on the face.
  • NAET treatments for elimination of various allergies and sensitivities was presented by Shao Li Shi R.Ac. She demonstrated the assessment and treatment techniques of NAET.
  • Acupuncture for lower back pain and correcting pelvis alignment was presented by Yu Jing Qiu R.Ac.
  • It was a very informative day for our members to share and discuss new techniques and treatment modalities. Members received seven credit hours towards their continuing education requirement for attending.

2017 January CPR Training

On January 15, 2017 several members from the MPAA attended CPR training at the Canadian First Aid Training Center on Provencher Blvd.
It was a very informative training session. The course included instruction and practice in Adult, Child and Infant CPR and choking as well as use of AED's.
Upon successful completion of course and exam participants received a certificate of completion.

Second time teaching Master Tung’s Acupuncture theories

On June 5th and 12th, 2016, MPAA organized second time teaching Master Tung’s Acupuncture theories. There were 15 people attended. That included acupuncturists, physiotherapists and chiropractor. This course was held by MPAA at Straight to the Point Community Acupuncture As the speaker and teacher, Paul Kohlmeier (RAc.) introduced basic principle, concept of Master Tung’s acupuncture, presented the location, indication, manipulation, contraindication of acupuncture points, and shared his practical experiences and comments as well. All participants also had a chance to practice to locate those points, and needling each other.

2016 Safety Course for New Members

MPAA Offered Safety course for new members:
In May 14, 2016, at Straight to the Point Community Acupuncture Clinic, our association offered safety course to our new members: Shandis Price, Naomi Johnson, Meixiang Jin, Zhiyan Xu, Li Zhou.

Moss Andrewes (R.A) presented Infection Management,
Paul Kohlmeier (R.A.) spoke the Ethics of Acupuncture,
Guo jian Huang (R.A.) talked the Safety of Acupuncture Treatment;
Yu jing Qiu (R.A) presented the Manitoba health policy and professional charting (SOAP).

In November 22, 2015, MPAA members attended continue education seminar at the Straight Points Clinic. Mr Paul Kohlmeler presented Code Ethics of MPAA which professional acupuncture therapist should follow with; Dr Ling Zhao presented massage program in Manitoba, analyzed pros and cons of each massage school in Winnipeg; Dr Guojian Huang presented the "Bloodletting Therapy", described its history, different concepts between western and Chinese medicine, discussed the application, manipulation, precaution, contraindication, etc. We will have more continue educations (includes case studies, lectures, etc) in coming year.


  • On November 16th, 2014, the MPAA hosted their first continuing education course. Paul Kohlmeier, R.Ac, taught a full day course on Tung-style acupuncture points and treatment protocols (upper limb) , including lecture and demonstration components. 12 members attended.
  • On Feb 22, 2015, Paul taught a second session on Tung-style acupuncture points and treatment protocols (lower limb) including lecture and demonstration components. 9 members attended.

  • CPR course date: Oct 27, 2013. Second CPR course date: Jun 5, 2014.
  • Safety course set up Feb 2, 2014, 1:00pm - 4:00pm.
  • Second Safety course set up Sept 21, 2014, 1:00pm - 4:00pm.
  • On November 16th, 2014, the MPAA hosted their first continuing education course. Paul Kohlmeier, R.Ac, taught a full day course on Tung-style acupuncture points and treatment protocols, including lecture and demonstration components.
  • On Feb 8, 2015, Paul will teach a second session on Tung-style acupuncturegxzr. Don't miss the opportunity to learn this highly effective style of acupuncture.

Safety Course of MPAA 2014

Safety Course of MPAA 2014 has been hosted at Beijing Pain Clinic on Sunday, February 2, 2014, 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Thera are more than 25 members attended. The seminar covers four tipics:
